How Soaplicity Was Born

It all began with allergies.

Harsh chemicals, artificial dyes, and synthetic fragrances were wreaking havoc on Roshan Richards' and her family’s skin.

After endless disappointment with “greenwashed” products that claimed to be natural but weren’t, Roshan knew there had to be a better way. She trusted her gut— she believed the closer ingredients stayed to nature, the healthier and more radiant the skin would be. 

Roshan immersed herself in research on the therapeutic properties of butters, oils, clays, herbs, and essential oils. She soon formulated her very first creation to address her son's psoriasis —the Oasis Soap Bar. Within just three days, his skin dramatically improved and his psoriasis was gone.

Deeply encouraged, she made herself a facial bar and scrub—the Euphoria Facial Bar (now Soaplicity’s #1 best seller) and the Time Warp Facial Scrub. The results were so immediate and transformative, she gasped, then she got mad. Why had she wasted hundreds of dollars on chemical-laden products that never delivered? In that moment, her purpose became clear: people needed products that truly worked, without the toxins. And so, Soaplicity was born.

From a Basement Dream to Main Street

What began in Roshan's basement—formulating, testing, and hand-crafting soaps to sell at local farmers’ markets—quickly outgrew the “summer side hustle.” Within nine months, Soaplicity had grown so rapidly that Roshan and TJ (her husband) had to make a life-changing choice: keep her “safe” job or take a leap of faith. With TJ's support, she chose Soaplicity—and never looked back.

Today, Soaplicity thrives on Main Street in Pleasant Grove, Utah, and serves customers all over the United States and Canada. Every product is still handmade in small batches to ensure the highest quality. A small but passionate team helps with production, sales, internships, and shipping—so customers everywhere can experience the difference of truly natural skincare.
